DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURE

Quail Run utilizes a staggered pick up schedule.  Families may choose only one dismissal group and must adhere to the dismissal times for their group.  The groups are: Busing, Walking, Carpool A and Carpool B.

Families can select their group and get a pick-up/drop-off pass by filling out the appropriate form:

Bus application
Carpool Pass application
Single Student Pick-up Pass application

Quail Run is strictly a “no-idling zone.”  This means that when your car is not in motion, turn off the engine while you wait.  This will be enforced.

Morning drop off (all students)
Students should arrive before 8:25 am (at least 5 minutes before the morning bell) to ensure they are not tardy.
Students should NOT arrive before 8:10 am.  If you do the traffic coordinator will instruct you to turn around and return to the school campus at a later time.
• When students arrive, they will enter the building through the front door and proceed to either breakfast or homeroom. They will take this opportunity to hang up their jackets or coats and arrange their belongings for the school day.
• At 8:25 am a bell will ring.  Students must proceed to their first period class when the bell rings.
• At 8:30 am a bell rings to begin the learning day.

Accessing the site

Cars will enter from 3300 North.

There will be a traffic guard at the entrance off 3300 N controlling traffic flow and enforcing pick-up times.  If you arrive earlier than your assigned time the traffic coordinator will instruct you to turn around and return to the school campus at your assigned time.

Parents may drop students away from the school and have them walk.  There is a sidewalk on the east side of 900 W and the north side of 3300 N.  This is a safe and legal path that goes all the way to the school.  Parking is permitted on the north side of 3300 N, but not the south side.

Cars will “stack” (queue up) along the school’s drive and in the parking lot and should not wait on 3300 N unless directed to do so by the traffic coordinator (orange vest).

Cars must display their pickup access pass clearly by hanging it from the rear view mirror, with the name side facing out.  The traffic coordinator will need to be able to clearly read the pass to radio the names to the front desk.

Traffic flow and pick up and drop off

There will be two main traffic coordinators and several supporting monitors.  Students and parents are to follow their instruction.  Parents who disregard instruction or otherwise follow unsafe practices risk losing priority pickup privileges.

Monitors will call out the name of the carpool via the school intercom system and teachers will help direct students out once their name is called.  Safety monitors will be at the front of the school helping load students into their cars once they arrive.

Cars should pull up to the curb and remain stopped in front of the school.

Students may only load in the pick-up and drop-off area (see map) when parked against the curb and the car engine has been turned off and the car is in “park.”

All students must use crosswalks and enter the vehicle from the sidewalk side.

Parents should not arrive earlier than their assigned time to limit congestion and safety issues.  If you arrive earlier than your assigned time the traffic coordinator will instruct you to turn around and return to the school campus at your assigned time.

Drivers should not exit their vehicle while in the pick-up/drop-off zone and MUST NOT leave their vehicles unattended in the pick-up lane at any time.

After school, students must vacate the premises and may not loiter in the hallways or play on the playground, as we aren’t staffed to monitor these areas for student safety during this time.

Cars are not to park in parking areas during drop off and pick up unless instructed to do so by the traffic coordinator.

Students  walking or riding bikes
There will be no off-campus crosswalks. Parents should contact the front desk if they need help to identify safe walking routes.
